TECNASA’s History
We anticipate our clients’ needs
Pioneers
Since our foundation in 1972, we have been pioneers in the field of corporate customer services in Panama and Central America.
TECNASA is a company that integrates technological solutions, and is founded upon the principles of customer service, knowledge, support, innovation and quality.
1972
The Payroll Processing Software, based on the newly established Labor Code of Panama, is developed. The Payroll Service Data Processing and Programming Center is established to meet the great demand from Panamanian companies. Since the beginning of the eighties, TECNASA takes part in the growing field of IT marketing.
1984
A distribution contract is signed with DIGITAL EQUIPMENT CORPORATION (DIGITAL), the fourth largest computer manufacturer in the world, and a recognized leader in 64-bit architecture. Its server line, AlphaServers, based on the industry standards of open architecture, revolutionized the global computer market.
1998
DIGITAL is acquired by Compaq Corporation, introducing a complete line of PC’s to our product inventory, as well as an alliance with Microsoft Corporation, a company that currently labels TECNASA as a Gold Certified Partner.
2000
TECNASA opens its new headquarters, equipped with top-of-the-line technology and highly trained personnel in order to provide clients with an even better service. On August 1st, NCR Corporation (with main offices in Dayton, Ohio) and TECNASA sign a franchise agreement, granting exclusive distribution rights of NCR products and services in the Republic of Panama. At the same time, TECNASA acquires the company assets of NCR Corporation of Panama. With these agreements, TECNASA becomes the only company in Panama authorized by NCR Corporation to sell, provide support and give maintenance to its products, including financial terminals, automatic teller machines, transports, cash registers and point of sale solutions, as well as data storage solutions or “datawarehousing”. NCR is the leading brand in Panama with 90% market share.
2001
TECNASA is named Hewlett Packard Distributor and becomes an Authorized Service Center for all of its products: servers and storage line, printers, and the rest of its complete portfolio of market-leading solutions. TECNASA always kept its focus on readily available solutions.
2002
Due to the excellent results obtained in Panama, NCR offers TECNASA the opportunity to market, sell and provide support and maintainance to its products and global contracts in the Republic of El Salvador. At this point, TECNASA establishes TECNASA ES, S.A. de C.V. as a subsidiary in El Salvador, for the exclusive distribution of NCR products, aiming to supply this market with the same professional services and high quality technicians. Also during this year, one of the industry’s most important mergers takes place: HP acquires Compaq Computer Corporation. TECNASA, as a Distributor and Authorized Service Center for both corporations, became the only company in Panama certified to provide service to both brands. TECNASA’s clients, who witnessed the complete transparency of the merger process, immediately embraced this competitive advantage. This year, Microsoft Corporation also changes the classification scheme of its business partners. TECNASA is named Gold Certified Partner, a designation that implies expectations and requirements at a global level.
2003
TECNASA is named Platinum Business Partner by HP Corporation, which is the highest distinction that an HP business partner can hold. TECNASA is continually searching for new business partners, and alliances with Cisco, APC and McAfee, among others, have been consolidated throughout the years. TECNASA’s services are hired at a regional level in Central America and the Caribbean.
2006
TECNASA incorporates NORTEL to its important client portfolio. NORTEL is the #1 brand in secure converged communications, offering a complete range of communication products, such as end-to-end broadband, voice over IP, business applications and multimedia services, and wireless broadband. TECNASA begins operations in Managua, Nicaragua and in the city of David, Chiriqui, in Panama.
